Season 3, Episode 2: I AM UNICORN

Britney asks Kurt if she can help campaign for Kurt's run for senior class president. Britney says that Kurt is a unicorn because he is proud to be who he is. Kurt accepts Britney's request. Will announces in glee club that Dustin Gooslby has been fired and nobody wants to take on his job as coach of Vocal Adrenalin. Will says they need to focus and work hard if they want to win Nationals so he says he cannot direct the musical but he has asked Emma, Coach Beiste and Artie to be co-directors. He also announces that Finn, Puck, Kurt, Blaine and Mercedes must all attend a mandatory booty camp to catch up on dancing. In the teachers lounge, Will is surprised when Shelby Corcoran shows up announcing that she is now a part time teacher here. She explains that after adopting Beth she moved to New York and became an actress but while working she missed Beth and worried she would miss her first words and steps. So when she was offered the job she couldn't say no. It turns out that Sugar Motta asked her rich father to pay the school and Shelby a lot of money to start a second glee club which stars Sugar. Will does not become threatened by the second glee club and instead is concerned about Rachel, Puck and Quinn being upset by Shelby's return. Shelby says that she needs to make a few things right. Sue meets Quinn in the girls bathroom where Sue blames the glee club for what went wrong with Quinn and asks her to do a video for her campaign explaining that. Quinn agrees. Shelby goes to visit Rachel in the auditorium where they talk and Shelby suggests that Rachel sings "Somewhere" as her audition song and Rachel does. Shelby then talks to Puck and Quinn and asks them to be a part of Beth's life because she doesn't want them missing out like she did with Rachel. Shelby says if she wants to see Beth she has to clean up her act. Quinn gets mad and says Shelby can't tell her what to do and storms out of the room. At booty camp, Blaine and Kurt talk about auditioning for the role of Tony in the musical. Kurt says Blaine would make a perfect Tony and Kurt becomes threatened. Blaine says since he is a junior he really doesn't deserve the lead role. Kurt agrees. Britney and Kurt get to work on campaigning for senior class president and Britney has a very over-the-top unicorn theme going on and Kurt wants it to be more tone down. Kurt goes to audition as the role of Tony and sings "I'm The Greatest Star" which Emma, Artie and Beiste love. Kurt listens to them discussing it after and they say that Kurt was good but he wasn't manly enough for the role so they should wait and see who else comes in. this makes Kurt upset. To make matters worse, Britney and Santana are putting up the unicorn posters all over the school and Kurt tells her to stop. Santana tells Britney that if Kurt doesn't like it she should just run for senior class president herself. Kurt with the help of Rachel auditions again and does a romantic reading from Romeo and Juliet to show his manly side which Beiste, Emma and Artie all laugh at. Kurt runs off stage upset. Puck goes to visit Shelby and Beth 9who is now just over 1 year old). He tells Shelby that he will do anything to be part of her life. Sue makes a video talking about how the arts ruined Quinn's life. Sue films Quinn yelling at Will saying that it's all his fault. He then gets mad at her for blaming it on the people who have been there for her ever since the day she got pregnant 2 years ago. Quinn leaves and Sue accidental ended up having her finger over the camera. Quinn goes to visit Shelby who is helping Sugar with her pitch. Quinn asks if she can see Beth and Shelby says not yet. Quinn then asks if she can see a photo. Shelby shows her a photo of Beth and Quinn starts to cry. Shelby says that Quinn can be a part of the family too. Burt gives Finn a job at his tire shop and Rachel helps out and says that Finn shouldn't commit his life to working their as he is talented enough to go to NYADA. Finn and Rachel kiss. Meanwhile Kurt complains that he is too girly to play the male roles and Burt says that's just who he is and if people don't like it he should write his own character and re-define the standards. Kurt ends up putting up a poster that is crossed between Britney and his ideas and Britney says she is proud of him but she can no longer help him because she is running for senior class president as well. Britney wishes him luck. At booty camp Finn is having trouble with his steps but finally masters them. The group celebrate and then turn around to see Quinn who's hair is blonde again, her piecing is gone and she doesn't have Gothic clothing on. She asks if she can rejoin glee club and the booty camp to catch up and Will says yes. The group welcome her back and Puck says he is proud of her. Quinn says that she plans to get full custody of Beth and if dying her hair and acting all nice again is what it takes then she is willing to do it. Puck does not seem happy about Quinn's plans. Blaine auditions for the musical with "Somethings Coming" which Kurt watches. The judges love it but discover he does not wish to play Tony. they ask him if he would read for Tony and Kurt walks away, upset while Blaine is not sure what to say.

Although nobody has heard from Quinn until she shows up at school with pink hair, a nose ring, a tattoo, and punk clothes. Quinn quits glee club and starts smoking as she joins a group of bad girls called the skanks. Quinn refuses to go back to the way she was or re-join the Cheerios with Santana and Britney. Will tells the glee club that they need 2 members to compete now that they have lost Sam, Lauren and Quinn and this year they need to try really hard to win Nationals. Will brings in three purple pianos that were donated to the school because they are a little old and Will tells the kids whenever they see the pianos around the school they have to sing a song to recruit new members. Sue is behind in the polls for her new government campaign. Tina and Mike start playing music and singing in the hallway and Sue interrupts and destroys the piano. A teacher thanks Sue and says its annoying when the arts kids think they can do whatever they want. Sue gets an idea and on Sue's Corner announces that if she wins the election she will cut ALL arts programs in schools so that kids can focus on study. Will and Emma are shocked and plan to do whatever they can to stop it now that Sue is rising in the polls. A purple piano shows up at lunchtime in the cafeteria and the glee club perform "We Got The Beat" which is followed by a food fight with everybody throwing food at the glee club. In the choir room the club is convinced that they should just give up. She announces herself as Sugar and says she would like to join because they suck and she can make them better. She seems up herself and really bossy and she auditions revealing she is a terrible singer. Will tells her he will get back to her and Rachel demands that they not let her join. Will goes to Beiste for advice and she tells him that if he wants to win then he should make sure he has a team of dedicated and good players. Rachel goes to see Quinn and tells her that she should rejoin the glee club because they are a family. Quinn says no but she looks as if she wants to. Rachel tells Quinn to take some time and come back when she is ready. Meanwhile- Sue makes Santana and Becky co-captains which they are both not happy about. Sue tells Santana is she wants this position she has to once again become spy for her against the glee club and Santana sadly agrees. Sue asks Santana to destroy the purple pianos and make it look like an accident. During Cheerios try outs, Emma films a video of Will explaining to her what taking away the arts will do and then he throws glitter on her. They post the video on YouTube. Rachel and Kurt are determined to put their New York City dreams into action and talk to Emma about colleges in New York. Emma suggests NYADA (New York Academy of Dramatic Arts) which is really competitive to get into so they should check out the competition at an introduction night for the students applying. Rachel and Kurt decide to perform a song at the night to scare the other kids competing against them and rehearse with "Ding Dong The Witch Is Dead." Kurt also wants Blaine to transfer to McKinley so they can be together more and Blaine finally does so they can. He then auditions for glee club in the outside lunch area with "It's Not Unusual" where the Cheerios join in and pour gasoline on the purple piano. Santana tells Quinn to throw a lit cigarette on the piano and Quinn does causing it to burn down. Rachel and Kurt go to the introduction night where they discover all of their competitors are exactly like them including a girl named Harmony who seems very sweet but not so much on the inside. She then performs a spectacular performance of "Anything Goes/Anything You Can Do" with the others for Rachel and Kurt. Kurt and Rachel retreat to the car and feel humiliated and depressed about the competitions talent. They wonder if they really are good enough and eventually decide that they just need to try harder by starting a successful school musical, joining extra curricular clubs and winning Nationals. Will decides to tell Sugar that she can't be in the club and Sugar gets mad and storms off. Sue then tells Will that his video has somehow caused Sue to go even higher ranking in the polls. Will introduces Blaine as the newest member of the glee club. He then kicks Santana out for lighting the piano on fire. Will tells Santana that the club needs loyalty to win Nationals and Santana decides to not protest and just leave. Rachel announces she has decided this years musical should be West Side Story and Kurt announces he will be running for senior class president. With one piano burnt, one destroyed and one covered in food, the glee club feel that everybody hates them and Will tells them that's okay as long as they have each other. Even though they still need 2 members to join glee club, they do a performance of "You Can't Stop The Beat." Quinn watches them with a look of sadness and regret as she shows that she does miss glee club and still cares for them all.
